Heading to Legoland

The boys have 2wks off school for Spring Break and the XC ski snow over at Black Jack is less than stellar as is the case for the downhill skiing at Red Mountain. It's Keegan's birthday in 3 days and I want to do something with the 2wks off, something that the boys will remember. So with 12hrs of preparation, based on a wild idea, the three of us are driving down to the south west corner of the USA.

2535kms is going to get us to Legoland!

Heading to Legoland

The boys are stoked. They watched some videos of the water slides, the amusement park and the aquarium at Legoland and they would like to be there tomorrow. But there's that whole 26hrs of driving thing getting in the way of that plan. We are gonna take the Spokane, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, San Diego route on the way down and the San Francisco, Portland, Spokane route on the way back up. Not sure where we will stop along the way, just gonna play it by ear, a classic road trip. Looking for weird places to eat, looking for cheap places to stay, trying to learn a few things along the way. Figure we'll be in the San Diego area for a shrimp burrito sometime around Thursday-ish. Other than that rough plan... who knows what we'll get up to. The only thing I know for sure is we are leaving in the morning.

Sadly, Doreen has to work but she might take a one-way flight down to San Diego or San Francisco to meet up and drive back with us, she'll know more in a few days.

I've got two weeks of US medical insurance purchased and I've got a big bag of kids clothes packed, another big bag full of kids books, a chess game, 2lbs of coffee, a hand grinder, a Melitta one cup pourover and some paper filters. There's some other stuff thrown in there as well but it's all pretty routine gear. My laptop is coming along so I can stay on top of athlete files, my Android is coming along so I can get connectivity.

I'll try to keep up with random blog posts, you can expect things like half eaten shrimp burritos photos and the boys splashing around in the sun. See you on the road!

Well you can replenish your coffee stash in San Diego, in case you want to pack lighter ;D
